Project Definition History
This Project Definition was drafted prior to the project's official kickoff. It was then iterated in the initial Joint Development Approach (JDA) event for the project which was held in Albuquerque, NM in March 2000. Those participating were:

In September 2001, the project team updated the Breadth portion of the Focus Statement to move the following from "Later" to "Including" and clarified to what extent these are "in" scope:
- Co-morbid conditions (provide a place in the model for this, although it will be difficult for the registries to capture this information)
- Genetic and tumor characteristic (e.g. estrogen receptor positive) information
- Accommodation for special studies --- Although this solution will not provide functionality to meet all needs, it will support some special studies processing
On July 10, 2002, members of the project team (Carol Kosary, Dave Annett, Gray Williams, Karen Windham, and Steve Clowse) iterated the following components with an emphasis on the Transition to Design work:
- Ranking of Likely Conflicting Values. New ones were added and all were ranked against each other.
- The Focus (Depth and Universality: Timeframe) were iterated.
- New freedom/constraints were added regarding technology and solution components.
In April 2003, members of the project team (Linda Coyle, Dave Annett, and Nicki Schussler) reviewed the project definition in terms of decisions made in technical design. The effort contribution of using new or existing system components was deleted. Although the logic of existing components will be incorporated, the new system will not attempt to integrate existing components as is.
