Question
Primary site/Histology--Heme & Lymphoid Neoplasms: When will the SEER Site/Type Table in the EDITS program be updated to include changes made to the Primary Site and Histology coding rules in 2012 Hematopoietic & Lymphoid Neoplasm Manual & Database?

Discussion
According to the 2012 Heme Manual & Database, chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma is to be coded 9823/3 regardless of the site of origin. Code 9670/3 [small lymphocytic lymphoma] has been made obsolete. The SEER Site/Type Table currently only lists sites C42.0, C42.1 and C42.4 as allowable primary sites for histology code 9823/3 [CLL/SLL]. When the histology is coded 9823/3 [CLL/SLL] and the primary site is coded to any other site, an edit is triggered despite the site and histology being coded correctly. The edit can be overridden, but there is confusion among registrars as to why an edit is failing when the coding is correct.

Answer
The SEER Site/Type Table is currently under review and a new version will be released with the next edition of the MP/H rules.

Continue to override the edit for now. We are coordinating with NAACCR to update relevant SEER and NAACCR edits.
